When I first started playing Lotería, I only thought there was one way to win—getting a straight line! But as I spent more time playing, especially at family gatherings, I discovered that there are many creative and exciting ways to win this classic game.

One of my favorite memories was playing Lotería with my cousin’s family in Mexico. They had their own fun twists on the rules! For example, during the game, there were mini wins sprinkled in. The first person to mark two squares next to each other would call out "¡Ambos!" (which means "both" in Spanish) and win a small prize or a mini pot of money. It kept everyone on their toes and made the game feel even more exciting and unpredictable.

• A straight horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line

• Four corners

• A full card (La tabla llena)

• An "X" across the card

• Specific patterns, like a box or border

• Fun mid-game wins like "Ambos" or "Cuatro Esquinas"
